    Assassin´s Creed (21-12-2016)

A bartender named Desmond Miles, is abducted by a company called "Abstergo Industries" to explore the mind of his ancestor, Altaïr Ibn La'Ahad, in order to recover a sacred artifact.

This week Assassin’s Creed fans were given new hope for the video game’s movie adaptation in the form of a trailer for the upcoming release of Macbeth. While the connection might not be immediately obvious, Macbeth director Justin Kurzel has also signed on to direct Assassin’s Creed, which will star Macbeth leads Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard. Like Macbeth, Assassin’s Creed is also expected to have a (partially) historical setting in keeping with the games upon which it’s based. The script was written by Bill Collage, Adam Cooper and Michael Lesslie.

Macbeth has already received some very good reviews, and the trailer teased some great performances from Cotillard and Fassbender, the latter of whom is also producing Assassin’s Creed through his company DMC Films. For those who are intrigued by the idea of an Assassin’s Creed movie, Macbeth could prove to a be a decent measure of what to expect.

Assassin’s Creed isn’t set to begin filming until September, but it’s being co-produced by video game developer and publisher Ubisoft through the newly-founded film production branch Ubisoft Motion Pictures, and so Ubisoft is wasting no time in generating hype for the movie. This month will bring the annual video game industry trade fair E3, during which publishers reveal some of their biggest upcoming projects, and the first teaser poster for the Assassin’s Creed movie has been revealed as part of Ubisoft’s E3 promotional material.

Hopefully the official title for Kurzel’s film isn’t actually going to be Assassin’s Creed: The Movie, but this poster is otherwise pretty exciting and, although it doesn’t offer any new information, its presence at E3 could mean that Ubisoft is planning further reveals during its presentation. Check out the poster below.

The narrative of the Assassin’s Creed games is based around a centuries-old conflict between two factions: the Templars and the Assassins. Each game has a modern day framing device, in which a descendant of the Assassins (New York bartender Desmond Miles, for the first few games) relives the memories of one of their ancestors using a device called the Animus, which is capable of tapping into genetic memory.

Eagles are one of the key pieces of iconography from the Assassin’s Creed games, with one memorable section of Assassin’s Creed III allowing the player to control an eagle during a dream sequence. The Assassins possess a sixth sense called Eagle Vision, which allows them to pick out their targets from a crowd and find other objects of note. The Assassins also wear robes with hoods that are pointed, like the beak of an eagle. It’s a fine choice for the movie’s first teaser poster, and we’re definitely looking forward to seeing more from Kurzel’s movie.

"Y, a pesar del odio y la aversión a la guerra, no quisiera verme privado del recuerdo de aquellos primeros días durante el resto de mi vida: miles, cientos de miles de hombres sentían como nunca lo que más les hubiera valido sentir en tiempos de paz: que eran parte de un todo"
