Close To The Edge and Back
In honour of the band's 40th Anniversary, Yes have officially announced a 2008 world tour
. As previously rumoured, the tour will feature Anderson, Squire, Howe, and White, and also include Oliver Wakeman sitting in on keyboards, in lieu of his father, Rick (who bowed out on the advice of his doctors.) Part of this world tour will be 26 North American dates, in amphitheaters and arenas, which will begin July 12 at Canada's Quebec City Festival, and end Aug. 22 in Los Angeles at the Gibson Amphitheater. The tour is being titled Close to the Edge and Back and will include a promotional contest through VH1 to choose a fan to perform on stage with the band. Tickets went on sale March 29, and a live album will be released to commemorate the anniversary, possibly to be released in summer 2008.
Jon Anderson has stated that he wishes to perform "Perpetual Change," "Awaken," "Close to the Edge," and "Heart of the Sunrise" on this tour. The band have prepared four new "lengthy, multi-movement compositions" for the tour which are "very, very different," although no plans for releasing recordings of this material have been made.
