Marvel still has The Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man ahead of them, but plot details are already starting to surface for their film after that, Captain America 3.
While talking to Yahoo Movies, the Russo Brothers offered a few hints about what's to come in their next feature. Following a directing stint on ABC's upcoming Agent Carter TV series, the filmmakers will dive into Cap 3, which takes place a "couple years" after The Winter Soldier. According to the site, the movie will primarily focus on Steve Rogers' complicated relationship with Bucky Barnes (aka Winter Soldier), although "themes of politics and power will still be in play."
"The character was invented for an explicitly political purpose," Anthony Russo said, "so it's hard to get away from that nature." Added Joe Russo, "His morality is part of his superpower."
In addition, the brothers said Cap 3 will bring "some new elements to the table that will give us a twist on Winter Soldier." As Yahoo theorizes, the Russos could be hinting at Steve passing the shield on to Bucky or even Falcon, both of whom have assumed the role of Captain America in the comics. This is entirely possible, given that star Chris Evans has talked about shifting his focus to directing down the line. But again, this is merely speculation.
