They started out with Korra. They gave some original sketches of Korra, saying they wanted her to be different from Aang. They tried to imagine a tough snowboarder, and got Korra’s design. They then went on to “The New Team Avatar,” shown in the poster released this morning. The city they are in is called the “United Republic,” founded by Aang and Zuko. The two guys with her (the firebender and earthbender) are both brothers. The firebender is Mako (Bryke named him after the passed voice actor of Uncle Iroh.) and the earthbender is Bolin. Mako is the brooding member of the bunch, and apparently his hair was a hot topic at the panel. Bolin seems to be our comic relief, the younger brother who’s rather naive. (Bolin’s character was originally what they had in mind for Toph in A:TLA.)
They then went on to the animals we will be seeing. Aang apparently found a group of sky bison following the end of the war, so they are still around (though a bit different from how we remember Appa). The polar bear dog Korra is riding in the poster revealed a couple days ago is her animal guide, Naga. (She’s a female, folks.) Bolin has a pet as well, a fire ferret named Paboo. There is also going to be a new species of flying lemur that will have a larger role in the later episodes.
From there, Bryke introduced us to Aang and Katara’s descendants, their three children. Tenzin in the youngest and is the only airbender. Tenzin has a family of his own - a wife (Pemma, a non bender) and three kids (Jinora, Iki, and Meelo).
Then came the villains of the show – The Equalists. The name of their leader was apparently hard to hear, but it led to believe he is Avon (Or possibly Navon). He is the masked villain on the poster from this morning, and he leads a revolutionary group made up of chi blockers (a skill Ty Lee apparently managed to pass on). The henchmen wear creepy outfits and masks. To fight these villains in the “United Republic” are metalbender cops, created by Toph. Following the war, Toph apparently traveled the world and taught her metalbending ability to fellow earthbenders. They use spools of metal cables to move about the city. Their chief of police is right now nameless, but is none other than Toph’s daughter (it was not revealed who the father was).
There is apparently a competition or sport called “Pro-Bending” where teams of three benders (one of each element) fight against each other. Apparently Bryan made his own rulebook, so we know it’s going to be intense.
The first 12 episodes that were originally in the works are going to be the first season of LOK, while the latter 14 that Nick asked for is going to be season two. For the music, The Track Team is coming back with entirely new music. They apparently said, “What would it sound like in the 20′s if the Chinese invented Jazz?”
